Toolooganvale Farm takes great pride in its ‘conception-to-sale’ service and has successfully prepared horses for Australia’s major bloodstock auctions, realising sales up to $550,000 for broodmares and $500,000 for yearlings.

Prior to submitting a horse for sales entry, each yearling, weanling or broodmare is carefully assessed to maximise returns based on sale, type and pedigree.
Our yearling preparation ranges from 9-11 weeks, depending on the sale in which they are entered.

When a yearling - for instance - first comes in for a preparation, he or she is given an individual schedule in terms of exercise and feeding regime, the latter in consultation with an equine nutritionist.

Each yearling is fed on Prydes feed products and is weighed regularly throughout the preparation.Yearlings have access to grassy yards each day and their exercise program may include lunging, hand walking and/or the walking machine. Again, this will depend on the individual yearling.

Importantly, yearlings are groomed daily and educated on parading at sales.
Additionally, Toolooganvale prepares weanlings and mares for sales with the weanlings having a preparation of around 6 weeks, focusing on light exercise and not stressing immature bones and joints. Similar to the yearlings, weanlings are educated and fed accordingly to ensure peak condition at the sale.
Mares are given a four week preparation so they too are in great order by the time they reach the sale ring.
